Depression Over Bay Off Odisha Coast In Next 24 Hours

Bhubaneswar: Most parts of the coastal and south Odisha will receive moderate to heavy rainfall in the next 48 hours as the low-pressure formed over the south-east Bay of Bengal off the Odisha and Andhra Pradesh coasts on Sunday has intensified further, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a release on Monday.
“Going by the modular study, low-pressure is most likely intensify into a well-marked low-pressure in the next 12 hours and subsequently concentrate into a depression in the next 24 hours. Under its influence, there will be light to moderate rainfall along the coast on October 9 and 10 after which moderate to heavy rainfall may occur in the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Khurda, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Balasore and Mayurbhanj between October 11 and 13,” the release said.
Due to the inclement weather conditions, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea from October 10 to 13 and those who have gone for deep sea fishing have been advised to return to the coast by October 9 evening, it added.

Man Shot At In Bhubaneswar, Hospitalised
Bhubaneswar: Khandagiri Police are on the hunt for four miscreants after they opened fire at a person near Khandagiri Bari area late on Sunday night.According to police, Pritam Jenamani of Patrapada area was on the way to his house in his vehicle when four miscreants followed him in a vehicle and brushed his vehicle near Khandagiri Square. As Pritam chased them and kept his vehicle in front of their vehicle, the miscreants suddenly opened four rounds of fire at him in which one bullet hit his right shoulder. Later, they fled the area.

Following information, police rushed to the spot and admitted Pritam to a private hospital where his condition is stated to be stable.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that Pritam had obtained a lease tender of the tourist bus stand in the Khandagiri Bari area for which he had a rivalry with his opposite party.
