Bhubaneswar: With the low pressure over the south Andaman Sea and adjoining the southeast Bay of Bengal most likely to intensify into a deep depression on May 8, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued heavy rainfall warning for six districts of Odisha in the next 48 hours.
In a mid-day bulletin, the national weather agency said low pressure is most likely to become well marked around May 7 and gradually move northwestwards and concentrate into a depression during subsequent 24 hours on May 8.
The IMD further said that though the intensification of the depression is likely to get delayed due to the pronounced diurnal variation in convection and a slight increase in vertical wind shear over the region, the rainfall activity in Odisha will increase under its influence. However, the depression will have no impact on Odisha, it added.
In view of the changing weather condition, IMD has issued yellow and orange warnings for the following districts.
