Bhubaneswar: The low-pressure area over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman & Nicobar Islands moved west-northwestwards and concentrated into a depression on Wednesday, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre informed in its midday bulletin.
“The system lay centred at 8.30 am over Westcentral Bay of Bengal, about 510 km southeast of Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), 650 km south-southeast of Paradip (Odisha) and 790 km south of Digha (West Bengal). It is likely to move initially northwestwards, then north-northwestwards and intensify into a deep depression over Westcentral Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast on November 16 morning. Thereafter, it would recurve north-northeastwards and reach over Northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast,” it added.
Under the influence of the system, heavy to very heavy rain is likely in some parts of Odisha on November 16-17.

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) may occur at one or two places in Puri, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak and Balasore districts.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower is also likely at many places places in Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Ganjam, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh and at a few places in Balasore, Jajpur, Gajapati, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Rayagada and at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Boudh, Angul, Kalahandi.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) is likely at one or two places in Balasore and Bhadrak.
Yellow Warning (Be updated)
Heavy Rainfall (7 to 11 cm) may also occur at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, and Kendrapada.
Light to moderate rain/ thundershower is also likely at many places places in North Coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal and at a few places in Khurda, Puri, Angul, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Deogarh and at one or two places in Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Boudh, Kandhamal, and Ganjam districts.
While there is no warning thereafter, light to moderate rain may continue at some places in the state till November, the weather agency said.
WIND WARNING
Squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting 60 kmph is likely during November 15 evening. It is likely to gradually increase becoming 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph from November 16 morning, 50-60 kmph gusting 70 kmph from November 16 evening till November 18 morning and decrease thereafter.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along & off Odisha coast from November 15-18.
