Bhubaneswar: In view of the depression formed over the Bay of Bengal, the regional centre of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a warning for four major ports in Odisha.
According to sources, a warning has been issued for Gopalpur, Puri, Paradip, and Dhamra ports off the Odisha coast.
It is pertinent to mention here that the well-marked low-pressure area moved west-northwest and intensified into a depression over the Bay of Bengal at 8.30 am. The system concentrated over coastal Odisha and adjoining areas of northwest Bay of Bengal near 20.8°N latitude and 85.6°E longitude, about 70 km north-northwest of Bhubaneswar.
It is likely to move gradually west-northwestwards and then weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area over Chhattisgarh and the neighbourhood by Wednesday.
