Depression To Trigger Heavy Rain In North Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued the orange warning for two north Odisha districts.

In a release, it said that the depression over Odisha has moved in the east-north-east direction in the last six hours with a speed of 17 kmph and lay centred about 70 km south of Keonjhar at about 5.30 am. It is very likely to move in the east-north-east direction for the next 12 hours and thereafter weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area.

Going by the modular study, IMD has issued the orange warning for Keonjhar and Balasore districts with isolated heavy rainfall during the next six hours from 9.30 am.

Squally wind speed of 40-50 kmph with gusting up to 60 kmph will blow along and off the Odisha coast and while 30-40 kmph with gusting up to 50 kmph will blow along the adjoining areas of north interior Odisha during next 12 hours.

As the Sea conditions will be rough to very rough along and off the Odisha coast during next 12 hours, fishermen are advised not to venture into sea along and off the Odisha coast and north Bay of Bengal during next 12 hours.

Due to inclement weather condition, Local Cautionary (LC) signal No-III has been hoisted at all ports of the state.
