Bhubaneswar: Kharavela Nagar police have arrested a senior executive of a luxury hotel in Odisha capital for alleged Rs 24 lakh forgery.
The accused, identified as Aryan Sen, was nabbed from from his native place Howrah. He was working as deputy manager (finance) in the hotel.
According to the complaint lodged by the hotel authorities on December 31, Sen was authorised to make payments to different vendors of hotel from the hotel account. He had to make payment of Rs 30,38,292 and Rs 35,83,034 vide cheque to two vendors in November. However, he allegedly transferred Rs.24,17,031 to his own account by forging the NEFT sheet.
Sen had been on the run since then.
When the hotel found out about the embezzlement, they tried to contact him. However, he could not be traced. The accused have confessed to have committed the forgery along with his fellow workers, who then distributed the money among themselves, a police officer said.
