Devotee injured in Puri Jagannath Temple, succumbs

Puri: A pilgrim, who tripped and fell inside Jagannath Temple in Puri, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Surjit Mallick, a resident of Kolkata. He had gone to the temple along with a family member for darshan early this morning. He fell down while climbing the 22 steps at the entrance to the temple and was immediately rushed to a local hospital by the temple officials. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The body was handed over to his family members after postmortem, said a police officer, adding a probe is on to ascertain the exact cause behind his unnatural death.
