The massive lamp has been placed at Baba Mukundeswar temple in the area. It lighting of the deep was performed by Puri MLA Jayant Kumar Sarangi, president of the temple management committee Jagadanand Mishra and other prominent persons in the morning.
After the lighting of the lamp, a bhajan troupe performed ‘Sankirtan’ (singing of devotional songs in chorus) at the temple. The MLA along with the devotees and priests and servitors of the temple participated in the programme.
The temple administration has made arrangement to keep the lamp burning throughout the Shivaratri on the day. The devotees can also pour ghee on the lamp to keep it burning as part of Shivratri celebration while offering puja to Lord Shiva.
