Puri: Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri will remain closed for entry of devotees during the visit of President Droupadi Murmu from 10.30 am on November 10.
This was decided at a high-level meeting held on Friday evening on the preparation for smooth darshan of the deities in the temple by the President. Presiding the meeting, Chief of Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Vir Vikram Yadav said the President will visit the temple from 12 noon to 1 pm on the day.
Besides offering puja to the sibling deities, the President will also have ‘Mahaprasad’ on the temple premises during the visit. Before her arrival, the temple would be sanitised and only Palia servitors will be allowed to accompany her inside the temple. Due to the security of the President, no visitor will be allowed inside the temple one and half hours before her visit, he added.
Later, President Murmu is scheduled to garland the statue of Pandit Gopabandhu Das near Singhadwar (Lions Gate) in front of the temple.
The day’s meeting was attended by Puri district collector Samarth Verma, SP Kanwar Vishal Singh, members of temple management committee and servitors of Chhatisha Nijog.
