Baripada: The Jagannath Temple in Baripada of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district reopened its doors for devotees from Tuesday.
Haribaldev Jew temple, considered Dwitiya Sreekhetra of Odisha, had remained closed for devotees due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The devotees were allowed inside the temple as per the COVID-19 protocol. Only those with a mask were allowed and social distance was ensured, said the administration.
As there was a long line of devotees they were allowed inside the temple in phases only.
Other temples and mutts in the district, like the Kakharua Baidyanath temple, Simileswar temple, and Devkund Ambika temple also reopened on the day. The authorities have been asked to ensure that both servitors and devotees maintain social distancing and wear masks.
Earlier on December 29, a meeting regarding the reopening of religious institutions in the district was held under the chairmanship of the District Collector. And, the decision for the reopening was taken after discussion with the respective authorities of the religious institutions.
