Puri: Thousands of devotees had Adapa Abadha on the first day of 7-day stay of Lord Jagannath & siblings at Gundicha Temple, considered their birth place, in Odisha’s Puri on Friday.
The sevayats of Suara and Mahasuara Nijog prepared the Mahaprasad of the Lords after the Sakala Dhupa rituals in the morning. It is believed that one attains virtues of crores of births with intake of a morsel of ‘Adapa Abhada’ after having darshan of the Chaturdha Murti on Adapa Mandap.
After spending two nights at the Grand Road, the sibling deities — Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath, were taken to the ‘Adapa Mandap’ in Gundicha Temple amid the chanting of slokas last evening. Elaborate security arrangements have been made for devotees for smooth darshan inside the temple.
The deities will make their way back from Shree Jagannath Temple on their respective chariots, which is called the Bahuda Jatra, on June 28 and will be taken to the sanctum sanctorum with the Niladri Bije ritual on July 1.
