Konark: Devotees visiting Kakatpur in Puri district from far-off places for darshan of Maa Mangala, suffered with servitors staging a protest on Monday.
Though the servitors performed the rituals, they refused to receive ‘bhog’ from devotees for offering the same to the deity.
The protestors under the aegis of Maa Mangala Sevaka Samiti also staged a demonstration in front of the temple demanding release of three servitors who were arrested by police for allegedly misbehaving with women devotees on Sunday.
According to sources, the family members of two police constables had gone to the temple to offer prayers. After they entered the temple, a few servitors intercepted them near the Jagamohan and asked them about their nativity. When they did not answer the servitors, the latter allegedly misbehaved with some women from both the families.
Later, a police complaint in this regard was lodged at Kakatpur police station, following which three servitors were arrested.
