Devotees Throng Jagannath Temple For Nabajoubana Darshan Of Lords

Puri: With the world famous Rath Yatra scheduled to kick off in Puri on Saturday, devotees in thousands thronged the Jagannath Temple on Friday for the ‘Nabajoubana’ darshan of the Lords.

The three deities were taken to the sanctum sanctorum of the temple after the servitors performed the Banaka Lagi, the secret ritual inside the Anasara Griha late on Thursday.

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) had made elaborate arrangements for for the smooth darshan of the Lords.

The Parimanika darshan of the Lords was held from 8 am to 9 am. This was followed by the Sahana Mela darshan at 8.15 am in which the devotees witnessed the Nabajoubana Besha (attire) of the Lords from the Bhitara Katha inside the Jagmohan.

For Parimanik darshan, the devotees collected tickets from the office of the temple administration. However, they had a free darshan of the Lords during the Sahana Mela which continued till 10 am.

The Parimanik darshan and the Sahana Mela had begun after the servitors brought the deities from the Ratna Simhasan at 6 am and performed Mangala Alati and Mailam Lagi, Netrotsav Bandapana and Yatrangi Mahasnana rituals.

There will be no darshan of the Lords after 10 am as the servitors would begin the rituals of the Lords for Rath Yatra which would continue late into the night.

The servitors would perform Agyanmala Bije at 4.10 pm after which the three chariots would be brought in front of Simhadwara of the temple.

The Bahutakanta rituals of the Lords would begin at 12.30 am after which the servitors would perform Senapati Lagi rituals which will continue till 5.30 am.

Since the rituals would continue for the whole day, there will be no Pahuda (rest) of the Lords from 6 am on Friday to 6 am the following day.
