Puri: A day after the district administration appealed to the devotees not to visit the town for observing ‘Kartik Brata’ due to COVID-19 pandemic, it has allowed Mahaprasad to be available for them during the holy month of Kartik.
Mahasuara Nijog secretary Krushna Chandra Pratihary on Friday said arrangements have been made for the devotees to get the Mahaprasad in a systematic process. The district administration is constructing sheds at Uttar Dwara (north gate) and Dakshina Dwara (south gate) of Jagannath Temple.
“Two counters will be opened by the Mahasuara Nijog. The devotees can take the tokens after paying the necessary amount and buy Mahaprasad,” he said.
The decision to provide Mahaprasad was taken after the matter was raised at the Chhatisa Nijog meeting on Thursday. The nijog members suggested construction of sheds and counter facility for the sale of Mahaprasad during the month.
According to sources, each shed will be 50 ft in length and 50 ft in width. It will have of five rows. “Three servitors will be assigned to supervise the facility at each gate. They will bring Mahaprasad from the Ananda Bazar as per order,” Pratihary said.
