Kolkata: In a bizarre and scary incident, the wings of two aircraft collided at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose airport here on Wednesday.
The two planes involved in the rare ‘accident’ were flights of Air India Express and IndiGo.
The Chennai-bound Air India Express aircraft’s wing fell on the runway after being hit, while the Darbhanga-bound IndiGo plane’s wing was dented.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) off-rostered both the IndiGo A320 VT-ISS pilots and ordered a detailed probe, reported ANI.
The accident, around 11.15 am, took place as the Air India Express flight was getting ready to fly to Chennai with 163 passengers having boarded the plane, along with pilots and six cabin crew.
Around the same time, Indigo flight 6E 6152 was preparing to take off for Darbhanga, with 149 passengers on board along with six cabin crew.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
