Bhubaneswar: With vehicles plying on the much-awaited Gurupriya bridge over the Janbai river in the cut-off area of Chitrakonda block in Odisha’s Malkangiri district, a team of senior police officials led by Director General of Police (DGP) RP Sharma visited the spot on Thursday to oversee the security arrangements.
The DGP, accompanied by the Director (Intelligence) Sunil Roy and Additional DG (Operation) RP Koche, discussed security provisions for the visit of the chief minister, who will dedicate the bridge to the people of the district soon.
“We have reviewed the security scenario of the areas adjacent to Gurupriya bridge. The construction of the bridge has been completed and opened to the people. It is likely to be inaugurated very soon. We have made adequate security arrangements to ensure that the bridge is in no way threatened by the Left-wing extremists,” Sharma told mediapersons.
The bridge will benefit about 30,000 people of two panchayats of Chitrakonda block.
