Puri: DGP Dr RP Sharma on Friday suspended Gop police station inspector-in-charge Soumyachit Mishra for accepting illegal gratification from a person.
Vigilance sleuths had arrested him for the same and forwarded him to the court on May 27.
Sources said he had demanded Rs 3,000 in bribe from Siba Prasad Jena of Nairasasan village in order to settle a case. Later, Jena filed a complaint with the vigilance department, following which he was arrested.
During the period of suspension, Mishra will remain under the disciplinary control of inspector-general of police, Central Range, in Cuttack.
