Bhubaneswar: Two days after a dhaba owner was shot at by two unidentified miscreants at Kalinga Studio Chhak here, the police on Saturday claimed to have identified the accused on the basis of CCTV footage.
“We have got a vital clue about the identity of the accused persons who had fired one round at a person inside a dhaba on September 13. It is suspected that the duo hail from the nearby locality. Efforts are on to apprehend them at the earliest,” Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahoo informed.
The footage showed that two persons purchased liquor from a shop and went to the dhaba. Later, they reached the dhaba for eating chicken pakora, police sources said.
According to sources, the accused, identified as Nilu was attacked following an argument over chicken pakora. Two youths came to Nilu’s dhaba and asked for chicken pakora. They picked up a fight with Nilu when told that it was not available. The enraged youths then shot him. Thereafter, they immediately fled the spot.
Past enmity is also being suspected as a reason behind the incident. Khandagiri police have started investigation and launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.
