Bhubaneswar: SUM Ultimate Medicare (SUMUM), a one-stop, multi-superspecialty, quaternary care hospital established here by Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA), was dedicated to the public in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Congratulating SOA for the new medical initiative, the Chief Minister said he hoped that it would extend excellent healthcare facilities to the people of Odisha.
The Union Home Minister said that such initiatives would bolster the healthcare sector in the state as the new hospital was equipped with ultra modern facilities. There was a need for the private sector’s involvement in creating more healthcare infrastructure for the people, he said, adding that the government’s efforts in this direction needed to be complimented by such private initiatives.
Dharmendra described the new hospital as world class and one of the biggest in the eastern region. As the state government was supportive of such initiatives, it would benefit the people of the state, he said, stressing that the new hospital should also cater to the requirements of the poor.
He also exhorted the Chief Minister to implement Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Ayushman Bharat Yojana’ or Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) in Odisha for the benefit of the masses.
SOA’s President Prof. (Dr.) Manojranjan Nayak, who was present at the inaugural function, felicitated the Chief Minister, the Union Home Minister and the Oil Minister.
“This not just any corporate hospital, but has been established keeping in mind the patient’s need. We will be providing facilities in closed to 30 facilities and have kept the fee structure reasonable accordingly,” said SUMUM CEO Dr Swetapadma Dash.
The nine-storey hospital is spread across 10 acres and offers next-generation treatment in patient-focused and technology-enhanced settings.
