Mumbai: After staying away from mainstream cinema for 14 years, Dharmendra and Hema Malini’s elder daughter Esha Deol is returning to the big screen with ‘Tumko Meri Kasam.’
Sharing her excitement about the second innings, Esha told Social NewsXYZ, “Coming back on the silver screen after a while is a wonderful feeling. It’s like homecoming… Before this, I worked on web series and short films, and it was a lot of fun working in different mediums. But it was on the silver screen that my career began. Coming back and seeing myself again on the big screen is something I’m truly looking forward to.”
Based on a true story, ‘Tumko Meri Kasam’ will feature Esha in the character of a defence lawyer.
“This story is different. It is a kind of film I have never seen before. It’s based on a true story, and my character is a defence lawyer. All the characters are relatable, whether it’s Anupam Ji’s role, mine, Ishwak’s, or Adah’s, all the characters are very relatable. It is an intense human drama that will keep you glued to your seats,” the actress said.
“Now that I’ve started working again, I want to do something different, something challenging, something that fits my age and offers strong female characters. This role ticks all those boxes,” she added.
Sharing her experience of working with director Vikram Bhatt, Esha said, “When I worked with Vikram Bhatt before, he told me that it was a human drama, a real-life story. The role of a lawyer immediately excited me. I’ve always wanted to work with Vikram again. As an actor, it’s a great experience working with a director like him because he draws out the best performances from his actors. He doesn’t just leave you like a prop.”
Esha, who made her Bollywood debut in 2002 with ‘Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe’ alongside Aftab Shivadasani, has featured in films such as ‘Dhoom’, ‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne,’ ‘No Entry,’ ‘Na Tum Jaano Na Hum,’ ‘Dus’ and ‘Kuchh To Hai.’
However, she failed to win over fans and had to quit the industry.
