Puri: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met Swami Nischalananda Saraswati – the Shankaracharya of Govardhana Peeth – in Puri on Sunday.
Speaking to the media, Majhi said he sought his blessing and guidance to run the government efficiently. “He gave me a lot of advice to work for the people, especially for the marginalised who have been exploited for a long time. He also advised me to work for the restoration of ancient mutts in Puri,” the CM said.
He added that his government will try its best to preserve the ancient monuments as per the guidance of the Shankaracharya.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan along with ministers and BJP MLAs of Odisha also sought blessings of the Shankaracharya on the occasion of Rath Yatra. “I am visiting Puri on the occasion of Jagannath Yatra. I also got an opportunity to pay obeisance and seek the blessings of Jagadguru Shankaracharya ji….I am delighted,” he told the media.
Later taking to his X handled, Dharmendra shared some pictures of the meeting and wrote: “Puri Peeth is the main centre of Sanatan Dharma and Jagannath culture. I am very happy to have come here.”
