Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday lashed out at Rahul Gandhi after the Congress MP accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of lying about his caste to the nation.

Continuing his tirade against the Prime Minister during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Odisha, the senior Congress leader earlier in the day said that PM Modi was not born in the OBC category as told in Parliament.

After Rahul’s statement, Dharmendra came down heavily on the Congress lawmaker accusing him of spreading false information.

“Like every time, another lie of Rahul Gandhi was exposed. Either Rahul Gandhi is really ignorant or he feels that by telling lies repeatedly, lies are accepted as truth. Rahul Gandhi should first do justice to himself, if he spreads lies like this every day, then the day is not far when he will limit himself to only humour, satire and entertainment,” Dharmendra said in Hindi on his X handle.

The BJP leader’s reaction came hours after the Gandhi scion alleged that PM Modi lied about his caste while addressing a public event during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Jharsuguda.

“PM Modi was not born in the OBC category as told in Parliament. He hails from the Teli caste, which was classified as a general caste at the time of his birth. In 2000, the BJP government in Gujarat included his caste in OBC category,” he told a gathering in Jharsuguda.

Rahul further said that he will not allow caste census to be conducted in his entire life because he was not born in OBC. “Only Congress will do it,” he asserted.
