Bhubaneswar: Union Education Minister plans to contest as BJP candidate from Odisha in the Lok Sabahs elections in 2024.
“I wish to contest in the Lok Sabha elections from Odisha in 2024. I have already intimated the party in this regard. But I will accept with humility whatever will be the party’s decision,” news agency PTI quoted him as saying.
Pradhan further said he wanted to contribute in all possible way to ensure that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is elected for third term. The BJP as a party and Modi, in particular, take all elections seriously.
“We never take our opponents in the election lightly. We will mobilise all our strength to defeat the Opposition in the hustings,” he said.
Pradhan, at present a Rajya Sabha member, has been elected to the Upper House for two consecutive terms from Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.
The son of former Union Minister Debendra Pradhan, he was also elected as an MLA from Pallalahara Assembly constituency in Odisha from 2000-2004. He was elected to Lok Sabha from Deogarh in 2004.
