Hyderabad: It was Shikhar Dhawan’s day out on the field against Rajasthan Royals, who scored an unbeaten 77 off 57 balls to power Sunrisers Hyderabad to nine-wicket victory.
Hyderabad, who were reeling after its skipper David Warner was banned recently due to his involvement in ball tampering case, mustered themselves under their new skipper Kane Williamson. Both Dhawan and Williamson played a crucial knock to give their team an unbeaten 121-run partnership for the win. Williamson remained unbeaten on 36, with hitting three fours and a six.
Rajasthan, who returned to IPL after a two-year ban for the betting scandal, failed to impress on batting as they scored a lowly 125-9.
In reply, Dhawan was fortunate after Ajinkya Rahane dropped his catch in the first over.
