Dhenkanal: Dhenkanal’s Rajagol village president Lingaraj Sahoo was shot at by unidentified miscreants on Friday.
He was rushed to Khajuriakata community health centre and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for better treatment.
Sahoo was on his way to Khajuriakata market when a group of miscreants intercepted him at Balimi area and started attacking him with iron rods. They fired on him before fleeing the spot.
Police suspect the attack to be the fallout of an old enmity over ransacking a stone crusher unit in the village.
A few days back, a clash had broken out between the supporters and opponents of the crusher unit. Sahoo was among the opponents’ group. Therefore, it is suspected that the supporters of the crusher unit might have attacked him, locals said.
