Dhruv Rathee Calls ‘Dhurandhar 2’ BJP’s Costliest Ad, Sparks Subscriber Backlash

Mumbai: YouTuber Dhruv Rathee, in his latest video titled ‘Dhurandhar 2 Exposed – What They Don’t Show You,’ claimed that Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge is essentially the BJP’s most expensive election campaign disguised as mainstream entertainment

Rathee did not hold back on the film’s director, Aditya Dhar, calling him a “maha chaatukar” (great sycophant). He questioned the use of real names and footage, including references to figures like Dawood Ibrahim and visuals of Narendra Modi. “You show Narendra Modi’s real face and real footage using real names like Dawood Ibrahim and then say it’s all coincidental?”

He dismissed the standard disclaimers in the film as “a legal cheat code” designed to blur the line between fact and fiction, making it harder for viewers to distinguish where truth ends and imagination begins.

Rathee further mocked the film’s narrative style, saying, “Aditya Dhar has created a cinematic universe from WhatsApp forwards. Instead of ‘inspired by real events’, it should have said ‘inspired by WhatsApp forwards’. That would have been more accurate.”

Criticising the film’s p

ortrayal of demonetisation as a masterstroke, Rathee urged viewers to think logically: “Just for a small issue, can such a massive step really be justified?”

He also pointed out the film’s deliberate use of emotionally charged scenes. “First they generate strong emotions, then they build their narrative on top of it,” he explained. Comparing the technique to feeding someone an extremely spicy chilli that burns their tongue and then selling them sweets, Rathee said, “Aditya Dhar emotionally burns the audience so they readily swallow whatever propaganda comes next.”

The YouTuber noted that having villains praise India’s leadership was a clever tactic. “If the hero praises someone, it has less impact. But when the biggest villain does it, the audience gets convinced at a much deeper level,” he remarked.

However, Rathee’s sharp criticism did not go down well with many of his own subscribers. Several hit back in the comments section, accusing him of bias.

“Hindustan ka sabse bada dushman Hindustani ha pakistan to dusre no pe ata ha,” wrote one user.

“Hence, proved. Pinda bhai’s most loyal customer is Dhruv Rathi,” wrote another.

“Somewhere the entire Dhurandhar team is smiling… free PR hits different bro,” commented another.

A third user wrote, “Dhruv rathee and Narendra Modi ji never ending love story.”
