Mumbai: Ranveer Singh’s most-anticipated spy-thriller ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ is witnessing unprecedented demand ahead of its March 19 release, prompting theatres across India to introduce round-the-clock screenings, including rare post-midnight shows.
In cities like Mumbai, theatres have scheduled screenings as early as 1.50 am and as late as 11.30 pm to accommodate the huge demand.
One of the biggest impacts ha
s been at Mumbai’s iconic Maratha Mandir, where Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s long-running ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ has been shifted from its regular 11.30 am slot to an early morning show to make room for ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’.
Helmed by Aditya Dhar, the film has already sold nearly 15 lakh tickets in advance booking, with many of them coming from paid preview shows on March 18.
Globally, the film’s advance booking has crossed Rs 125 crore, including record-breaking pre-sales in North America.
Trade experts believe the sequel of the blockbuster spy thriller could set a box-office record by surpassing the lifetime earnings of Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’.
The ‘Dhurandhar’ sequel also stars R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi, with a cameo expected from Akshaye Khanna.
