Jajpur: Outbreak of diarrhoea at Taluha village under Barchana block of Odisha’s Jajpur district has claimed the life of one person and affected at least ten others.
Sharing information about the outbreak, Public Health Director Dr Nilakantha Mishra said in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday that necessary steps have been initiated to check any further spread of the disease.
One person, who was initially undergoing treatment at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Barchana, had been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. The patient passed away while undergoing treatment in Cuttack. The exact cause of death is being investigated.
Stating that no fresh diarrhoea case has been reported in the affected village. Mishra said a team of doctors from Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), accompanied by CHC staff, visited the village to assess the situation and trace the source of the outbreak.
Water and stool samples collected by teams from Jajpur Medical College and the local CHC have been sent for laboratory tests.
Meanwhile, the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) has been directed to submit a detailed report within three days.
