Did Delhi Police Withdraw Security To Vinesh, Sakshi For Testifying Against Brij Bhushan?

New Delhi: Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik have claimed that Delhi Police have withdrawn the security of women wrestlers who were going to testify against Brij Bhushan Singh on Thursday.

“Delhi Police have withdrawn the security of the women wrestlers who are going to testify against Brij Bhushan in the court,” Vinesh wrote in a post on X.

Delhi Police, however, rejected the allegations.

Devesh Mahla, DCP of New Delhi, said the PSO were called for routine firing and training practices, and that there is no order of withdrawal of security to women wrestlers.

Vinesh, who became the first Indian female wrestler to enter the final of an Olympic event, was disqualified after being found to be 100 grams above specified limit at the weigh-in.

Olympic medallist Sakshi also alleged that police have withdrawn security of wrestlers involved in the ongoing sexual harassment case against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan.

Sakshi and Vinesh were among India’s top wrestlers who took part in months-long protested against Brij Bhushan and WFI in 2023.
