Patna: Rahul Gandhi’s 16-day Bihar yatra, covering over 1,300 km across 20 districts, ran into trouble on Tuesday as the BJP accused his car of “crushing” a policeman and “critically” injuring him in Nawada.
Party spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla shared a video of the incident on X, and captioned it as: Voter Adhikar Yatra ❎

“Rahul Gandhi’s car crushed a police constable who was critically injured. The dynast did not even get down to check on him,” Poonawalla wrote.
The video shows the Congress leader greeting people on a crowded road from his open-top jeep, which hits a constable and appears to run over the his feet.
Fellow-policemen and Rahul’s supporters immediately blocked the vehicle and rescued the constable. The constable was seen limping away. Rahul gave a water bottle to his supporters to assist the injured cop.

Rahul later met the constable, and enquired about his injury, NDTV reported.
Bihar, which will go to polls in October-November, has been boiling as Congress-led INDIA bloc goes all out to unseat Nitish Kumar’s NDA government.
The Opposition has been protesting relentlessly against the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls. Rahul himself accused the ECI of vote ‘theft’ and colluding with BJP to ‘steal’ elections.
The ECI dismissed Rahul’s allegations with ‘evidence’, made at a press conference on August 7, asking the Congress MP to either submit an affidavit or apologise to the nation within a week.
The Congress, along with parties like RJD, have ramped up the attack on ECI, even contemplating an impeachment move against the poll panel.
The BJP hit back on Tuesday.
“For 40 hours, lies were floated to weaken our democracy and raise baseless questions on the Election Commission. Who will take responsibility for this? Will Rahul Gandhi apologise to the nation? What about harming the public’s faith? The people who saw this information must have believed it to be true,” party leader Gaurav Bhatia said.
