Mumbai: Following ‘Dhurandhar’s OTT release on Netflix on January 30, a new fan theory about Ranveer Singh’s character Hamza killing Rehman Dakait’s elder son has left internet divided.
In the scene, which showcases a shootout at a wedding, Hamza is seen in action for the first time, despite being in Pakistan’s Lyari as an undercover agent for over a year.
While Usha Uthup’s ‘Rambha Ho’ plays in the background, Hamza tries to protect Dakait’s elder son from being killed.
However, as the scene ends, Hamza realises that he failed to save Dakait’s son.
While the scene does not show who killed Dakait’s son, it is being assumed by a section of movie buffs that Hamza assassinated him.
One user wrote, “Crazy how people are now realising that Hamza killed Rehman Dakait’s elder son after rewatching Dhurandhar. I caught it the very first time in theatres.”

While some agreed with this theory, many others weren’t quite convinced.
Sharing a screengrab of the new theory, a Redditor joked, “Not even Aditya Dhar knew it.”
Pointing out that the mission was to save Rehman’s son, and not to kill him, another wrote, “In no way was it even slightly indicated that Hamza was plotting to get Rehman’s son killed at all.”
One user reasoned, “No matter what, they’d never show an Indian agent killing a child/teen who isn’t directly engaged in conflict with them.”
Another person posted, “Bruh people are reading too much idt aditya himself thought this deep into things.”
One comment read, “Just now watching the movie.. this scene came..i said the same exact thing and my husband denied.”
Referring to how Hamza reacts after killing Rehman, another netizen wrote, “Even I felt that and somehow I still believe it. Because of the last act he did when rehman died,”
Helmed by Aditya Dhar, the spy-thriller ‘Dhurandhar’ also stars Sara Arjun, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt among others.
The movie released in theatres on December 5, and collected Rs 1328 crore worldwide before its OTT release.
A sequel of the film is scheduled to be released on March 19.
