Bhubaneswar: Music composer and singer Bappi Lahiri breathed his last at Mumbai’s CritiCare Hospital on Wednesday. He was 69.
The man, who popularised disco music in India in the 80s and 90s, has also composed music for two Odia movies.
The bilingual Odia-Bengali movie, ‘Michha Maya Sansara (1989)’, had five songs. The star cast included Pradeep Kumar, Beena, Papia Adhikari, Uttam Mohanty, Bijay Mohanty, Dukhiram Swain, Biswajit, Debu Bose, Shyamalendu, Sujata Anand, Aparajita, Gayatri Chand, Abhi.
The film was produced by Naresh Malhotra while Uday Shankar Pani donned the director’s hat.
“Ekeun Sahara Kemiti Sahara sung by Amit Kumar and Uttar Kelkar was a popular song of the album,” said film critic Surya Deo.
The other songs of album are Aie Subha Dina Ase, Baya Mana Michhe Ete, Keta Au Khojibi Bata and Mangala Maya.

Mohammad Aziz, Usha Mangeshkar and Chandrani Mukherjee had also lent their voice to the songs in the movie.
Bappi Lahiri also composed music for 1994 movie ‘Akuha Katha’ starring Uttam Mohanty and Mahasweta Ray.
He was also sang the title song of of Anubhav Mohanty and Varsh Priyadarshini-starrer ‘Mo Duniya Tu Hi Tu’ released in 2013.
