Diesel & Jet Fuel Demand Declines, Petrol Grows Slightly

New Delhi: The demand for diesel in West Bengal has reduced by 20 per cent during the current fiscal year as industries are not fully operational due to the COVID-19 pandemic, state-run Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) said on Monday.

Petrol demand has, however, increased by 1 per cent in September, IOC executive director Pritish Bharat said in a virtual conference.

Demand for LPG cylinders has increased by 20-22 per cent because of three free units being distributed under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, he said.

Demand for jet fuel has dropped by 75 per cent as most flights are grounded.

IOC is setting up a new LPG bottling plant at Kharagpur at a cost of Rs 163 crore.

GAIL will be installing a compressed natural gas (CNG) pipeline from Jharkhand’s Bokaro to Kolkata. The same will be extended by IOC and Adani via a joint-venture deal.
