Differently-Abled Girl Raped In Odisha’s Sundargarh; Accused Held

Rourkela: A differently-abled girl was allegedly raped by a youth in a secluded place in Raghunathpali area of Odisha’s Sundargarh district.

According to sources, the accused committed act inside a toilet near the government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) under the jurisdiction of Raghunathpali police station.

The girl stays in the same area with her mother who works as a daily wager to eke out a living and to meet her household expenses. The girl was alone at home on Saturday afternoon when the youth came to her house.

The accused lured the girl and took her to the secluded place where sexually assaulted her and warned of dire consequences, if she would disclose the incident to anybody.

The rape survivor narrated her ordeal after her mother returned home in the evening. Her mother lodged an FIR at Raghunathpali police station. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and detained the youth.

Investigation is underway and steps were taken for conducting medical examination of the girl and the accused, sources added.
