Kandhamal: A differently-abled priest sustained critical burn injuries during a secret ritual that was being conducted by him to fulfill a devotee’s desire.
Though the incident took place at Bhagamunda in Kandhamal district in the recent past, the matter came to the fore this morning after a video featuring the whole incident went viral.
According to available information, the priest, a youth, was conducting a ritual at Mahamai temple here to fulfill the wishes of a person of the locality when the dress he was wearing caught fire. On being informed about the mishap, police rushed to the spot and rescue the victim.
He was admitted to Baliguda hospital for treatment. Police have started an inquiry into the incident.
