Digital Toll Payment: Over 3.5 Cr FASTags Issued To Users In Country

New Delhi: The Central government on Thursday said more than 3.54 crore FASTags for digital payment of user fee at toll plazas on national highways in the country have been issued by July 14.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said the government declared all lanes of fee plazas on national highways as “FASTag lane of the fee plaza” for digital collection of user fee from February 16.

Stating that all fee plazas on NHs are fully equipped with FASTag system, he said the overall FASTag penetration has reached 96% from 80% on February 14.

He further said improvement in process/technology for collection of user fee is a continuous process and efforts are being made for adoption of new technology.
