DTH (Direct To Home) TV providers are trying to bridge the gap between broadcast TV and on-demand video streaming services.
Dish TV on Wednesday launched a new content streaming stick called d2h Magic which gives access to video streaming and OTT apps in existing set-top-boxes.
The d2h Magic stick has to be connected to the USB port of the set-top-box. Users can then stream video content from apps such as Hungama Play, ALTBalaji, ZEE5 and Watcho. Apart from that, users will also be able to stream the TV shows and movies they missed.
“We are delighted to announce the launch of d2h Magic. It will empower our customers to enjoy internet-based content as well as Live TV using one remote in an immersive manner on their TV sets. At Dish TV India Ltd, we believe in bringing the latest technology and innovation to our customers. d2h magic is yet another step in this direction,” Anil Dua, Executive Director and Group Chief Executive Officer, Dish TV India Limited, said.
The stick is currently priced at Rs 399 and the subscription is free for the 1st three months. Thereafter, it will cost Rs 25 per month.
