New Delhi: Dismissed IAS trainee officer Puja Khedkar has moved the Supreme Court challenging Delhi High Court’s order denying her anticipatory bail in the UPSC cheating case.
Khdekar is accused of lying about disabilities, changing surname and forging a backward class certificate to clear the civil services exam.
Last month, the high court turned down her bail petition saying that the charges against her are a “classic example of fraud committed not only against an authority but also the nation at large.”
The high court further said Khedkar’s intentions seemed to be to dupe authorities and that “her steps were part of a larger conspiracy… and is unfit for appointment.”
A bench of the country’s top court, comprising Justices B V Nagarathna and Satish Sharma, will hear the matter on Wednesday.
In a case which made national headlines last year, the Central government discharged Khedkar from the IAS in September after the completion of an inquiry against her too look into allegations of faking her identity to avail more attempts in the civil services examination.
Khedkar was accused of misrepresenting information in her application for the UPSC Civil Services Examination, 2022, to get reservation benefits.
