Dispute Over Cricket Match Causes Traffic Jam Amid Road Blockade In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A dispute over a cricket match led to disruption in vehicular movement as protesters staged a road blockade in Laxmisagar area of Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

Following a major controversy over guests invited to the event, locals staged a road blockade, causing severe traffic jam on the road connecting Rasulgarh and Kalpana Chhak in the capital city.

Sources said the controversy erupted over a particular leader not being invited as a guest to the Laxmisagar Cricket Tournament. The match was reported stopped midway at the Laxmisagar High School playground.

Angry over the cancellation of the tournament midway, locals were up in arms. The matter was also reported to the police but the protesters were infuriated as the match could not be resumed.

A large number of local residents hit the streets and staged the blockde on the busy road at the Laxmisagar Square. Their demonstration caused massive traffic congestion, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded.

Despite police efforts to disperse the crowd, the protesters demanded an explanation for the abrupt halt to the tournament. Tension prevailed in the area as the protesters entered into a heated argument with the police.

Vehicular movement on the busy road came to a grinding halt for over three hours.
