Bhubaneswar: Union Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday expressed concern over the hurling of bombs at the residence of BJP leader Jayanti Patra, the newly elected chairperson of Dhenkanal municipality.
“Deeply shocked and disturbed by the selective targeting and continued string of attacks, including hurling of bombs at the residence of Smt. Jayanti and Shri Ramchandra Patra in Dhenkanal,” Pradhan tweeted.
The voice of BJP leaders will not be silenced with such acts of terror and intimidation, he said further.
Pradhan said he discussed the matter with the Odisha DGP on the fearlessness of miscreants and the blatant disregard for rule of law.
“Such brazenness is a matter of grave concern not just for me but for every citizen of Odisha,” he said.
Pointing out that Dhenkanal and Odisha have always been peace-loving and law-abiding, Pradhan said that recent incidents showed the state in a poor light.
He hoped that the Home Department, led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, would intervene and take stringent action against the miscreants.
Meanwhile, a four-member state BJP delegation comprising MLAs Lalitendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra, Mukesh Mahaling, Prabhati Parida and Anita Subhadarshini left for Dhenkanal to take stock of the situation.
