Bhubaneswar: Firecrackers and DJ music will not be allowed during the upcoming Sital Sasthi Yatra of Lord Lingarj in Bhubaneswar. The Sital Sasthi festival is slated to be held on May 24 and 25.
Sources said the decision to ban high decibel DJ music and firecrackers during the Yatra this time was taken at a preparatory meeting for the festival. The meeting was attended by the Longaraj Temple trust, police and district officials.
The meeting, chaired by the ADM and temple executive officer Dilip Mohapatra, was attended by heads of three nijogs of the shrine. It was decided that all the wedding rituals will be conducted in a smooth manner strictly as per schedule.
It was also decided that only some light-emiting firecrackers will be allowed at a designated place during the wedding procession of Lord Lingaraj and the return journey of the deities from Kedar Gouri temple. Noise-making crackers will be strictly banned.
