Baripada: Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL), Mayurbhanj branch, DGM Yashwant Choudhry was sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) on Monday for demanding and accepting Rs 3,000 bribe.
Special Vigilance Judge Prasanna Panda also slapped Rs 25,000 fine on him, failing which he will have to spend one more year in jail.
Notably, the DGM had demanded Rs 5,000 from Kartikeswar Dutta, a local resident, to make a bill for a rented vehicle. He was caught red-handed by Vigilance sleuths while accepting Rs 3,000 at his office on October 25, 2017.
