DMRC Breaks Own Record, Reaches Highest Point In Metro Network At Haiderpur Badli

New Delhi: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) claimed to have scaled the highest point till date at Haiderpur Badli Mor, as part of its Phase-IV Magenta Line extension between Janakpuri West and R K Ashram Marg.

This point is 28.362 metres high, principal executive director, corporate communications, DMRC,Anuj Dayal said on Sunday.

“This is a record for DMRC. Till now, the highest point in the whole network was 23.6 metres at Dhaula Kuan in the Pink Line section. This was a complex project. A strong foundation had to be laid before construction of pillars and the laying of pre-cast structures. All safety measures were adopted to prevent any accident. In this project, a steel span had to be constructed above the existing Yellow Line. Work was divided into phases to ensure safety and regular progress,” Dayal said.

According to him, the pillars were constructed in three phases. To ensure safety and maintain stability, Macalloy bars were used instead of conventional supports. Dayal also spoke on completion of the second-highest elevated stretch of the Phase-IV Magenta Line.

“DMRC has completed construction of the 52.288 metres long steel span across the railway crossing near the Haiderpur Badli Mor metro station. This stretch is at an elevation of 27.610 metres. This was a challenge as the space between the existing metro viaduct and railway tracks is constricted. Two heavy cranes were pressed into service, maintaining a very short distance from the overhead wires. Each of these cranes lifted steel girders weighing 142 Tons,” he said.

Most of the work was done at night after metro services came to an end for the day and trains stopped running along the tracks below. There was no disruption of services due to this. The executive director said that a large number of commuters will benefit once extension of the Phase-IV Magenta Line is completed.
