Bhubaneswar: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has sought a report on metro construction from Trisulia near Cuttack to the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar in Odisha from Odisha Rail Infrastructure Development Ltd (ORIDL), a joint venture of Odisha government and the Ministry of Railways.
While DMRC has been roped in to support ORIDL in preparing the detailed project report (DPR) for the elevated rail-based metro system in the state capital, the former has sought Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP), which it said is essential for the purpose, sources said on Sunday.
In a letter dated April 18, the DMRC sought passenger origin-destination matrices, Bhubaneswar ward map and ward-wise demographic details including population, City Bus route map with stops, average daily city bus passenger origin-destination and stop-wise boarding alighting data and past 10 years modewise registered vehicle in Bhubaneswar.
It has also asked for vehicular traffic in the city, width of roads and how much more these can be expanded in future and plans for construction of new roads.
The DMRC has also sought details on number of people using city bus services along the proposed metro project route, stoppages and which route will be made functional first.
Since the CMP of Bhubaneswar is not available, the DMRC will be provided with a report prepared by Bhubaneswar Development Authority in 2018, the sources added.
Last week, City Coordination Committee (CCC) formed by the state government to expedite preparations for the proposed metro project, held a meeting during which availability of necessary data, transport and mobility trends for the proposed project and developmental works were discussed.
Apart from the DPR, a master plan will also be prepared for the metro network covering other areas of Bhubaneswar, Khurda, Cuttack and Puri. Officials have been asked to follow an integrated and systematic approach in preparing the groundwork for the implementation of the project.
BDA vice chairman and CCC chairman Balwant Singh had then said that data regarding the total area, wards, traffic and other such details relating to the state capital will be shared with ORIDL within a week.
