Malkangiri: A doctor at a village in Malkangiri district has won the hearts of people by carrying a sick boy on his shoulder for five km to take him to a hospital on Tuesday.
According to sources, a 12-year-old boy at Nuaguda village in Khairput block had been suffering from fever for the past few days. His health deteriorated on Tuesday morning and his family contacted an ambulance.
But the ambulance could not reach the village due to poor road condition. Then Dr Shakti Prasad Mishra, who works with NGO Arogya Plus, and the ambulance driver carried the boy on their shoulders to the Malkangiri district headquarters hospital around five km away.
