Bhubaneswar: Police have arrested a doctor of All India Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar foe allegedly cheating a girl after promising to marry her.
According to sources, the girl came in contact with the accused, Dr Jaydeep Dasgupta of Cardiology department of AIIMS where she had admitted her father for heart-related complaints around 2 years back.
Dr Dasgupta initially took the phone number of the girl, who works in a bank, for forwarding messages on the progress of treatment, test reports and medicines. Gradually, they developed intimacy and fell in love with each other.
As they had physical relationship, the girl allegedly became pregnant but went for abortion on the advice of Dr Dasgupta. Following this, he started maintaining distance from the girl and did not respond to her phone calls.
Recently, the victim came to know that the doctor of the prestigious medical institute was going to marry another girl and filed a complaint at Mahila police station in the city.
Acting on the complaint, the police registered a cheating case and arrested Dr Dasgupta on Tuesday.
