Bargarh: A doctor allegedly attempted to commit suicide by slitting his own throat following a patient’s death in Bargarh district on Tuesday.
The victim, identified as Subodh Sahu, was admitted to the district headquarters hospital in a critical condition. He was later shifted to VIMSAR in Burla after his condition deteriorated.
According to information, a woman of Banabasapali village had gone to Subodh’s clinic at Bandhutikara after experiencing severe pain in her teeth. However, her condition worsened after she was administered an injection by the doctor.
Following this, she was rushed to the district headquarters hospital as her condition worsened. However, she was declared dead at the hospital.
As soon as the news spread, a group of locals gheraoed the doctor’s clinic demanding action against him. They were accompanied by police personnel.
Fearing arrest, Sahu slit his throat with a sharp weapon. Later, he was rescued and taken to the hospital.
