Malkangiri: Tension prevailed at Kalimela in Odisha’s Malkangiri district after a girl student was allegedly thrashed by a doctor at the Community Health Centre (CHC) on Friday.
According to sources, a Class X girl student of a high school at Kalimela was brought to the CHC by her classmates and teachers in the afternoon after she complained that her head was reeling. However, the doctor on duty after examining the girl said that she had no illness.
The doctor later asked the teachers and other students to vacate his room and thrashed the girl student.
Talking to the mediapersons later, the girl student said “The doctor asked the nurse to bring the medicine. After the nurse gave him the medicine, the doctor thrashed me and put the liquid medicine on my eyes, ears, nose and face and gagged my face with my scarf saying that I should die immediately.”
Till reports last came in, the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) is yet to make a statement on this incident.
