Puri: The Sea Beach Police have begun an investigation into the death of the wife of a railway doctor whose body was found lying in a pool of blood inside the railway colony quarters here on Monday afternoon.
According to the complaint lodged by Dr Sanjib Kumar Sahu, his wife, Sujata was alone in the quarters after he had gone to the hospital for duty and his son, a student of Class IX, had gone to school.
Neighbours found Sujata’s body lying in a pool of blood with a deep wound on her head inside the house at about 1.30 pm and informed the Sea Beach Police, who rushed to the spot with a scientific team and sniffer dogs.
While the police have confirmed the murder of the woman, the exact cause of the murder was not immediately known.
The body of the deceased was later sent to the district headquarters hospital for post-mortem.
