‘Dolly Ki Doli’ Rerun: Bride Turns Robber, Scoots Off With Jewellery, Cash

Bareilly: In a daring crime inspired by Bollywood, the bride disappeared with cash and jewellery within five hours of her wedding at Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

It was so reminiscent of the 2015 Bollywood flick ‘Dolly ki Doli’ starring Sonam Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pulkit Samrat and Malaika Arora.

The groom and his family, from Powayan, were not finding a suitable match. Two acquaintances of the family suggested that he marry the daughter of a poor man from Farukkhabad, The Times of India reported.

The man agreed, and even gave them Rs 30,000 to arrange for the wedding.

The marriage was solemnised at a temple in Farukkhabad.

The bride was taken to her in-laws’ home in Powayan. The same evening, the groom’s family was shocked to discover that the bride had disappeared with two men who had come with her.

A complaint has been registered and the police are inquiring the matter.
